Mandy Patinkin in Concert with Paul Ford on piano
To some fans, he’s the Tony Award-winning revolutionary from Evita who grew into a bonafide Broadway star in Sunday in the Park with George. To others, he’s the Emmy Award-winning Best Actor, for his portrayal of Dr. Jeffrey Geiger in “Chicago Hope,” or the star of the new CBS drama series, “Criminal Minds.” To some, he’s Madonna’s piano man in Dick Tracy or the scholar who made Streisand swoon in Yentl. And to others still, he will always be the man whose name is Inigo Montoya, the swashbuckler from “Princess Bride”. Sponsored by Harrah’s Reno and Northern Nevada Medical Center.
Mandy Patinkin tickets are available to Friends of Artown from May 1st. Tickets to the general public go on sale on May 15th. Call 322-1538 to become a Friend today and take advantage of early ticket purchasing for Artown presented events. Maxwell St. Klezmer Band of Chicago
Klezmer music opens the door to a world rich with energy and emotion, Jewish folk musicians drew upon the haunting melodies of cantors and the boisterous dances of the Russians, Rumanians, Poles and other surrounding cultures to create a unique and evocative style of their own. Immigrants at the turn of the century adapted to American tastes and instrumentation. The result is a fusion of everything from Russian dances blended with Dixieland and jazz and swing! The Maxwell St. Band, founded in 1983, has been featured on PBS, ABC, as well as world stages. They bring a kaleidoscope of colors, and moods and an old-fashioned spirit of fun to their performance.
